How would you like use to size your system? Size by heating demand load and design temperature
Estimated Heating Demand 5.86 kW ( 20000 BTU/hr )
Output of selected heat pump at design temperature (-30C/-22F maximum) 7.1kW
Percentage of demand load requirement produced by heat pump at design temperature (-30C/-22F maximum) 124%
External backup boiler required 6kW
Internal backup boiler required if using Alt Source tank 7.5kW
Heating Demand Load 20000
Heating Demand Load Unit BTU/hr
Selected temperature scale Celsius
Heating Design Temperature -25° C
Arctic heat pump required 050ZA/BE
Comments I’m looking for an air-to-water heat pump that can operate down to −25 °C and deliver approximately a 20,000 BTU heating load for in-floor radiant heating. The required supply water temperature will be around 100 °F. The system would also need to handle domestic hot water for a 4-bedroom, 2-bath home. I would appreciate clarification on the required equipment and components for this type of system. I understand the need for the outdoor unit and the radiant distribution system, but I’m unclear on where the heat exchanger is typically located — whether it is integrated within the outdoor unit or located in a buffer tank or indoor module. Thank you, Nicolas
